What we check. What we don't.

GMTOne reviews the business behind a dealer before approving their storefront. We do not verify private sellers, and we never check what anyone is selling.

No watch listed here has been inspected by us, opened by a watchmaker, or authenticated. We never take possession of a watch, so we could not do so even if we wanted to. Any listing that suggests otherwise is wrong and we want to hear about it.

That means the two things a buyer most wants settled — is it genuine, and is it as described — are not settled by us. They are settled by you, ideally by seeing the watch or having an independent specialist look at it before you pay.

Nothing, beyond registering. This is the honest answer and we would rather give it than dress it up: a private seller creates an account with a name, an email address and a password, and can then list.

We do not check identity documents. We do not currently confirm the email address before a listing goes live. No private seller on GMTOne has been verified by us in any sense, and you should not treat their listing as carrying our endorsement.

What is true is that a listing is not anonymous to us: it is tied to an account, and so is every offer and message sent from it, which is what lets us act on a report and hand records to a lawful request. Seller verification is something we intend to add. Until this page says we have, assume we have not.

A professional dealer applies through the dealer application, and a person on our side reviews it before anything appears. We look at the business behind the name: that the company exists and is registered where it says it is, that its trading history and public presence match its application, and that the person applying is connected to it.

Only after that review does the storefront become visible and the gold verified mark appear on their listings. An application under review is not published — you will not find a pending dealer in the directory, because unapproved profiles are not shown at all.

The ✦ mark on a listing or a storefront means one thing: we have reviewed the business selling it and it is who it claims to be. It says nothing about the individual watch beneath it.

We withdraw the mark, and suspend the storefront, if the business stops being contactable, if its registration lapses, if reports about misdescription or non-delivery stand up to a look, or if it pushes buyers off-platform to avoid the rules here. That decision is made by a person, and we tell the dealer why.

Every listing shows which it is, and on GMTOne today it is the only trust signal that means anything. Buying from a professional dealer in the EU normally brings consumer rights — a legal conformity guarantee, and cancellation rights on a distance sale — that a private sale between two individuals does not.

If a listing is presented as private but the seller is trading as a business, that is a breach of our terms and it also costs you those rights. Report it and we will act.

Where we hold a reference for the exact reference number of a watch, we show the asking price against it, with the difference as a percentage. It is an indicative figure for a watch of that reference in good condition, maintained by our team and reviewed periodically.

It is not a live feed, not a valuation, and not an appraisal of the specific watch in front of you. It cannot know that watch’s condition, service history or whether it has its box and papers. Where we only hold a reference for a different configuration of the same model, we say so on the listing and withhold the verdict rather than dress a loose comparison up as a judgement.

We never hold the money for a watch. There is no escrow on GMTOne and no protection scheme covering your purchase. Payment, shipping or collection, and any insurance are arranged directly between buyer and seller.

The only payments we take are from sellers, for publishing a listing or for a dealer subscription. Those are set out in the terms.

Report a listing or a seller to contact@gmtone.com with the link and what you have noticed. We read every report. We can hide a listing, suspend an account and withdraw a verified mark while we look, and we will tell you what we did.

What we cannot do is recover your money or compel a sale — we were not party to it. If you have paid for a watch that never arrived, or that is not what was described, that is a matter for the seller and, if it comes to it, for the police or the courts. We will provide what records we hold to a lawful request.
