Casio Computer Co., Ltd. was founded in Tokyo in 1946 by Tadao Kashio and his brothers. The company made its name in calculators before it made a watch, and that order matters: its watches have always been electronics first, with the case built around what the module needed to do.

The Casiotron arrived in 1974 as the first digital watch to handle the length of each month by itself. G-Shock followed in 1983, from Kikuo Ibe's brief to build a watch that would survive a fall from a third-floor window — a hollow structure suspending the module inside the case, which is still the principle every G-Shock is built on.

The catalogue today runs wider than any other house on this marketplace: resin digitals under a hundred euros, full-metal G-Shocks with solar charging and Bluetooth timekeeping, Edifice chronographs, and Oceanus in titanium with sapphire and radio sync.
